Abstract
Provided are a vanadium solid-salt battery having a high capacity and a method for manufacturing the vanadium solid-salt battery. The present invention relates to a vanadium solid-salt battery which is characterized by comprising a positive electrode and a negative electrode that contain vanadium having an oxidation number of 3 or 4 in the initial state, and a separation membrane that separates the positive electrode and the negative electrode from each other and allows permeation of hydrogen ions, and which is also characterized in that: one of the electrodes contains vanadium that changes in the valence by 2 at a maximum by initial charging; the other electrode contains vanadium that changes in the valence by 1 at a maximum; and the number of moles of the vanadium that changes in the valence by 1 at a maximum is not less than 1.5 times the number of moles of the vanadium that changes in the valence by 2 at a maximum. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing this vanadium solid-salt battery.
