The present invention provides a method for stopping the swimming or crawling of adhesion-stage larvae of a sessile organism in water by irradiating the adhesion-stage larvae with light comprising wavelengths from 409-412 nm and comprising some wavelengths in the wavelength region from 400-440 nm.
