Provided are: a laminate for retort packaging, which is applicable to a container for retort packaging exhibiting excellent strength in bag drop test at low temperatures; and a container which uses this laminate for retort packaging. A laminate for retort packaging (10), wherein a sealant layer (21) is formed of a resin that is mainly composed of a polyethylene resin composition which is composed of from 30% by mass to 50% by mass (inclusive) of a high-density polyethylene, from 40% by mass to 50% by mass (inclusive) of a linear low-density polyethylene and from 10% by mass to 20% by mass (inclusive) of a high-pressure method low-density polyethylene.
