Abstract

　Provided are: a liquid crystal compound satisfying at least one physical property such as high chemical stability, high clearing point, low liquid-crystal-phase lower-limit temperature, low viscosity, large optical anisotropy, large dielectric anisotropy, suitable elastic constant, and exceptional compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds; a liquid crystal composition containing this compound; and a liquid crystal display element including this composition. A compound represented by formula (1). In formula (1), for example, R1 is a C1-15 alkyl; ring A1, ring A2, and ring A3 are independently 1,4-phenylene, 2-halogeno-1,4-phenylene, 2,6-dihalogeno-1,4-phenylene, or the like; Z1 and Z2 are independently a single bond or -C≡C-, where at least one is -C≡C-; L1 is a halogen, -OCF3, or –CF3; L2 and L3 are independently hydrogen or a halogen, where at least one is a halogen; m and n are independently 0, 1, or 2, and the sum of m and n is 1 or 2.
