Disclosed in the present application is a method for using carnallite to prepare potassium chloride. The method comprises: first using fresh water to mine and treat carnallite ore by means of a high-temperature water-dissolving method to obtain potassium-rich saturated brine; next mixing the potassium-rich saturated brine, sylvite saturated solution, and old brine and performing brine exchange, evaporation, and decomposition treatment to acquire artificial sylvite; and finally using fresh water to perform low-temperature selective dissolution treatment on the artificial sylvite to prepare potassium chloride. The present application uses hot water for mining carnallite ore to reduce the content of sodium chloride in the potassium-rich saturated brine; potassium chloride is prepared from the artificial sylvite by just one step of low-temperature selective dissolution, avoiding the unnecessary energy consumption and impurity accumulation caused by multiple cycles of thermal dissolution crystallisation treatment on the sylvite, whilst ensuring the high yield and high quality of the potassium chloride; in addition, the method provided by the present application is suitable for different grades of carnallite ore, having strong adaptability and relaxed technical conditions, facilitating promotion and implementation of the technique.
