Job Description:
Leading technology company is currently looking to add an experienced patent attorney with an Electrical/Computer Science degree or related background. Top academic credentials and multiple years working in the software industry are required. The ideal candidate will have a strong and broad understanding of intellectual property and open source licensing issues, including at least three years experience counseling in-house on IP and open source issues, and significant experience as a software developer. Familiarity with C, C++, or Java preferred. Key responsibilities will include working closely with top software developers to understand how internally developed software will be integrated with Open Source software. The successful candidate will analyze Open Source license agreements and investigate risks to the company's IP rights associated with using Open Source software. Additionally, the attorney will provide counseling on sophisticated issues regarding Open Source compliance to senior executives and Business Unit engineers and legal staff. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. A candidate's ability to communicate effectively with technical and legal professionals is essential.
