Patent Counsel –Computer Science/EE

Leading technology company is currently searching for a Patent Attorney with an undergraduate degree in an engineering discipline including: Computer Science or Electrical. Previous experience in a large corporate environment, as an attorney and/or engineer is preferred, but not required. Additionally, the attorney should have solid experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications (approximately 50 applications drafted). Attorney must have admission to a state bar and registration to the USPTO. Additionally, the attorney will have a strong ability to work with clients in a team-oriented partnership to help them arrive at elegant solutions to their problems with the flexibility to accept new and different challenges in a fast paced, high tech environment. Candidate will possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing as well as a positive attitude and creative spirit. The successful candidate will be involved in preparing and prosecuting strategic, high quality patents, and assigning preparation and prosecution matters to and oversight of outside counsel. The successful attorney will actively participate in the invention disclosure review process and will provide assistance regarding licensing, litigation and dispute matters as well as assigning patent preparation and prosecution matters to a group of outside counsel and supervising their work product to assure it meets standards of quality, timeliness and cost. Attorney will become the expert in the Legal Department for a specific patent portfolio and will include training of less experienced members of the legal department. Travel is expected according to business needs and should be less than 5% of the time, most typically to other company locations in the U.S. Years of Experience:  5 to 10
