Duties and Responsibilities
Trademark Responsibilities:
· Preparing and filing trademark related documents with the USPTO.
· Maintaining IP docketing system.
· Managing and drafting correspondence for prosecution, maintenance, enforcement and litigation.
· As needed, assisting attorneys in litigation management procedures including, but not limited to:
o Reviewing client documents for privileged and/or confidential documents.
o Preparing logs of privileged documents and documents to be produced.
o Reviewing, indexing, organizing and summarizing documents produced by other parties.
o Creating and maintaining databases of documents produced.
o Assisting in fact gathering for drafting of affidavits of support of moving and/or responsive papers.
· Maintaining research reference files.
Contracts Responsibilities:
· Initial legal review and drafting of various contracts to support Chamberlain business units’ needs.
· Work collaboratively with and facilitates effective communication among legal department personnel and various business units to address intellectual property and other matters in various agreements.
· Proactively follow up with clients, attorneys and external parties from the time the contracting request is received through resolution/execution to ensure shortest cycle times.
· Escalate contracting delays and issues to attorneys as appropriate.
· Prioritize and follow through on a high volume of client requests.
· Understand and comply with all relevant procedures and policies.
· Maintain contracts database and alert clients to key contract dates (e.g., renewal, expiration, etc.).
· Contribute to continued development and refinement of contract templates.
Requirments
Basic Qualifications
· Paralegal certificate or relevant trademarks and contracts experience (minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in either case).
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· High attention to detail.
· Team player.
· Ability to set priorities and exercise independent judgment.
· Capacity to deal effectively with changing and multiple priorities.
· Able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
· Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel and information databases.
