Description

Manage and oversee outside litigation counsel monitoring costs and work product; provide counsel regarding Intellectual Property/patent matters to all levels of management, legal departments, and engineers and make recommendations regarding strategy. Recommend proceedings to be taken related to Intellectual Property litigation, cost monitoring, risks, and steps relative to litigation prevention, settlement and procedure.

 

1.         Formulate initial evaluation of suits involving Intellectual Property/patent rights 
           and provide counsel regarding suggested action. 

 

2.         Manage outside counsel to assert and defend Intellectual Property lawsuits  
            and monitor costs and work product of the counsel.

 

3.         Act as contact for outside counsel for day-to-day decision making during 
            litigation, reviewing papers for filing and consulting with legal and business  
            personnel when appropriate.

 

4.         Coordinate in-house discovery requests, including third party requests.

 

5.         Make recommendations regarding litigation strategy, including active litigation
            and future planning.

 

6.         Keep corporate business and legal personnel notified of the status of litigation
            activities.

 

7.         Assist with the negotiation and settlement of intellectual property disputes.

 

Requirments

Licensed attorney; member of the United States Patent and Trademark Office bar; member of a state bar.

 

Law firm experience with Intellectual Property and patent litigation, including discovery, depositions, motions practice, and trial strategy.

 

At least four years of Intellectual Property legal experience related to patent litigation.

 

The qualified candidate will have a law degree from a nationally recognized law school and a minimum of four plus years of patent litigation experience. Experience at a reputable law firm or a corporate law department is required. The candidate must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as superior analytical ability.
