Description

                Keith Ross and Associates, Inc. is engaged in a search assignment for a Lead Biotechnology Patent Attorney on behalf of a corporation located in the Southeastern region of the United States. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of ten years experience, a Juris Doctorate degree, a Life Sciences related degree, and leadership experience. Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office and a state bar are required. 

            In this role you will manage a department of patent attorneys; develop and implement Intellectual Property strategy; create solutions for significant Intellectual Property issues; prepare freedom to operate opinions; advise management on proposed strategies; stay current on all Intellectual Property activities; manage and further develop the patent portfolio; oversee outside Intellectual Property counsel; provide due diligence for merger and acquisition; draft, review and negotiate various contracts including licensing agreements; prepare and prosecute patent applications; manage active portfolio review process with Research & Development, marketing and senior management to contain maintenance fee costs and heighten awareness of using patents as business tools. This is a highly visible position, must have business acumen, and experience managing an Intellectual Property legal team. 

Requirments

           The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of patent and Intellectual Property legal experience, ideally with exposure to microbiology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and biotechnology technologies.
