Description
Prepare, file, prosecute, and maintain U.S. and foreign patent applications. Manage patent application preparation and prosecution by outside counsel. Prepare and render legal opinions related to patent validity and infringement. Counsel business clients on all aspects of intellectual property protection. Provide litigation support as needed. Prepare, review, and negotiate IP-related agreements. As appropriate, the successful candidate will be given opportunities to take on responsibilities for managing one or more significant patent portfolio(s) for the business.
Requirments
Required skills: 5+ years of patent experience, including a minimum of 3 years of preparation and prosecution experience and reasonable familiarity with foreign filing requirements and prosecution. B.S. degree in materials science, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or chemistry (inorganic) preferred. Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and a member in good standing of at least one State Bar.
Desired skills: Advanced technical degree. Patent portfolio management. Transactional experience, particularly in drafting and negotiating IP licenses, joint research, material testing/transfer agreements, and development agreements. Law firm experience.
Soft Skills: Superior writing skills. Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to interact comfortably with senior management. Genuine interests in learning and working with technology and being integrally involved in strategic IP procurement and protection.
