These compositions comprise a polyamide (PA) resulting from the polycondensation of an aliphatic .alpha.,.omega.-dicarboxylic acid with xylylenediamines and a salt of a metal chosen from the transition metals of group VIIIA of the Periodic Table of the elements, manganese, zinc and copper; the polyamide (PA) contains less than 150 ppm of phosphorus. These compositions may be made into packaging materials, such as containers (bottles).
