Biography
Ed works in the fields of medical devices, medical electronics, semiconductors, software, computer networks and scientific instruments, helping innovators where intellectual property is a significant part of their business. To this end, he provides broad experience with managing significant patent portfolios. He is expert before the U.S. Patent Office Board of Appeals and with re-examination proceedings. He is registered before the European Patent Office and has excellent experience before the examining and opposition division of the EPO. He also has excellent experience with guiding US clients through these European processes as well as helping U.S. clients understand dispute resolution and licensing in Europe. He wrote and prosecuted patents for a Scottish company on breakthrough imaging technology that won the Queen's Award for Enterprise (2008).
